Today marks one year since my surgery and start of chemotherapy (again) for ovarian cancer. I’ve been having a debate with myself over the past few weeks. Do I consider the six years I was cancer free when marking this anniversary, or do I need to start over again because of the recurrence. So I asked the experts today when I went in for my routine monthly blood test (CA-125, the best darn blood test I could ever have in that it was the indicator that tipped us off that the cancer had returned). So what did the experts say. “I don’t know, we never really thought about it”. So I’m going to say that I am a 7 year cancer survivor, 1 year survivor of a recurrence and one darn happy camper! Happy Anniversary to me.
